One of the projects in the City Deal is to make Green End Road safer and greener - this comes from a project Liberal Democrats in East Chesteton started 3 years ago to "Green Up Green End Road": Ian & Shahida wanted to know why it was called that when there was so much concrete!
Shahida Rahman , our candidate in the May elections, and Cllr Ian Manning are running a drop in session this Thursday 11th, at the Methodist Church, from 1845 - 2000. We'lll have print outs of the plans and we can answer questions about the City Deal in general - please pop in at any time between 1845 and 2000.
I had to sent the first set of designs back as they weren't good enough, and I'm pleased to say the ones in the City Deal are significantly better, though far from perfect. In particular:
We believe the section from the mini roundabout to Milton Road is good, and encourage you to support it.
The section from Nuffield Road to Evergreens we believe is unimaginative and dangerous for both cyclists and pedestrians.
An option of a light controlled crossing to turn into Nuffield Road, only operating at busy times (around the school opening times, for example) should be investigated.
We believe the double yellow lines outside the Mermaid and Hairdressers extend too far for practical purposes.
Finally, the double yellows around the section near the school should be incorporated into a more comprehensive plan, otherwise parking will displace into side streets.
Hope to see people there!
