Cambridge MP David Howarth has been promoted to Shadow Solicitor General in the Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet.

The former lecturer in Law and Economics at the University of Cambridge will be party's official spokesperson in the House of Commons on major legal issues such as the Government's involvement with BAE Systems.

David commented:

"I am very excited to be taking on the role of Shadow Solicitor General. I will use the role to demand answers from the Government on their role on the BAE Systems scandal and will fight for electoral reform as well as taking part in debates on criminal justice and the reform of the legal system.
