Catherine Smart - re-elected as deputy city council leader

Cambridge Liberal Democrats have elected their executive councillors for the coming year.

Catherine Smart will continue in the role of Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Housing.

Clare Blair will take over responsibility for Climate Change and Growth following the appointment of predecessor, Sian Reid as Cambridge City Council Leader.

Her previous portfolio of Community Development and Health will be taken over by Tim Bick.

Julie Smith has stepped down as Executive Councillor for Arts and Recreation and will be Chair of the city council's Licensing Committee and Chair of the Cambridge Environment and Transport Area Joint Committee.

Rod Cantrill will take over as Executive Councillor for Arts and Recreation.

Councillor Cantrill's previous portfolio for Customer Services and Resources will be taken over by Neil McGovern.

Mike Pitt will continue as Executive Councillor for Environmental and Waste Services.

Mike Dixon will be Chair of the city council's Planning Committee following the retirement of Alan Baker.

Sian Reid, Cambridge City Council Leader said: "We are marking our 10th year in control of the city council and we have appointed a strong team to lead us forward.

"Our executive councillors bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge to their roles and I am confident they will prove valuable in dealing with the challenges over the coming year."
