Huppert visits newly refurbished Lord Byron ward
Julian Huppert visited the newly refurbished rehabilitation ward at Brookfields Hospital, Cambridge on Friday, 13 December 2013. The ward was officially re-opened back in November, after a temporary closure earlier this year.
During his visit to the 20 bedded Lord Byron Ward he stopped to have a chat with some of the residents and staff in the dining room, accompanied by Jackie Wray, Deputy Ward Manager and Matthew Winn, Chief Executive, CCS NHS Trust.
“I am delighted that The Lord Byron ward has re-opened and is once again admitting patients.” said Julian Huppert. “This is a much-needed facility for Cambridge allowing elderly people and those with complex needs to be able to leave hospital and get help with rehabilitation before they can go home.”
The re-opening of the ward to patients on 11 November, followed a highly successful recruitment campaign, with the ward now being staffed by a strong team of experienced nurses, carers and other health professionals, as well as having a consultant geriatrician on-site.
Matthew Winn, Chief Executive, added: “I was delighted to show Julian around the ward. The commitment shown by our staff to Brookfields Hospital is exemplary, and is a key element of our services for older people in and around Cambridge, and I’m sure will continue to provide high quality services long into the future.”
