Julian welcomes Lib Dem commitment to invest almost £7 billion extra in schools and colleges over the next Parliament.
This extra money would reverse the proposed cuts, ensure no school misses out in the move to the new Fairer Funding Formula, protect Further Education funding and the Pupil Premium in real terms, and provide more support for continuous professional development for teachers.
Julian Huppert, who is standing for re-election as MP for Cambridge said;- “This means that no school in Cambridge should be forced to lose any teachers, as they are currently having to do.
"I have fought against poor funding in our schools for over 15 years. As our MP, I managed to secure as extra £23.2 million a year for our schools. I’m delighted my party will continue to campaign for more money for education across the country, and for fairer funding in Cambridge in particular.
Rachel Snape, Headteacher of the Spinney Primary School, said
"Julian was one of the hardest working MPs in Parliament, and he worked tirelessly to get extra money, which we desperately needed. The Lib Dems have a good record on this in government, providing money for the pupil premium and free school meals. I’m delighted to hear this announcement, which will be welcomed across the City."
