Residents of Cambridge's Castle ward have elected former Lib Dem Mayor, David White, to represent them on the County Council.

The By-Election came about after the resignation of Sal Brinton, who stepped down to focus on fighting a parliamentary seat.

David White won with 922 votes, increasing the Lib Dem share of the vote to 56%. Despite strong campaigns from both Labour and the Conservatives, both parties languished behind with less than 17% of the vote each.

Full results: David White (Lib Dem) 922; Robert Boorman (Con) 280; Jane Jacks (Labour) 276; Stephen Lawrence (Green) 117; Helene Davies (UKIP) 58. Turnout 23.7%
