David Howarth, MP for Cambridge, today commended the hard work and dedication of the team at Jimmy's Night Shelter in Cambridge.

David visited the night shelter on Boxing Day and spoke to staff, volunteers and residents.

Commenting, David said:

"The work being done here is phenomenal; the staff provide a vital service in a city where homelessness is a big problem. It is important to remember that anyone can find themselves in the situation of being homeless and so we're very lucky here to have such a dedicated team of staff and volunteers working all year round helping the homeless in Cambridge."

Jimmy's provides a bed and a hot meal for those in Cambridge who would otherwise be forced to sleep on the streets. If you are in need of a bed for the night call 01223 516054. Donations of clothes, non-perishable food, bedding, cleaning equipment or any other items can be brought to the shelter between the hours of 10am and 5pm. If you would like to volunteer your time to help call Gill Barker on 01223 516067.
