Council to bring recycling to City flats

Residents in flats across Cambridge will be able to join in the recycling boom, thanks to Cambridge City Council.

Over the course of the coming year, Council staff will visit flats and other properties that do not yet have full recycling facilities, and will provide residents with bins and boxes that are suitable for their needs.

Councillor Iain Colemen, Executive City Councillor for Environmental Services, said:

"We have hugely improved recycling in Cambridge, but there are still some people in flats and other difficult to reach properties who have been left out.

"We're putting more money into the recycling service so that, by March next year, everyone who can possibly recycle will have the facilities to do so. There is bound to be a tiny minority of properties where it's just impossible to provide a full recycling service, but we will make sure that there is nobody who is left out of recycling if that is at all possible for us to bring them into the system."
