Lebanon crisis requires urgent recall of Parliament

4.02.16pm GMT Wed 9th Aug 2006

David Howarth, MP for Cambridge, has today joined the calls for Parliament to be recalled to debate the worsening crisis in Lebanon.

Mr Howarth has joined over 100 other MPs to demand the Recall in response to growing dissatisfaction with the Government's response to the crisis.

Mr. Howarth commented:

"The UK needs to call for an immediate ceasefire which Tony Blair has steadfastly refused to do. MPs and people around the country are fiercely critical of his failure to call for a ceasefire.

"We need an urgent debate on this issue and so I am supporting the demand to recall Parliament early to discuss the Government's and the UN's strategy in detail."
