Councillor welcomes Hospice at Home campaign

9.27.18am GMT Tue 15th Aug 2006

Lib Dem Health spokesperson on the County Council, Geoff Heathcock, has today congratulated the Cambridge Evening News for supporting a campaign to save the Hospice at Home service.

Coun Heathcock, who chairs the Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee at the County, is also concerned about a situation where vital community services have to be funded by charity rather than by the Primary Care Trust.

Coun Heathcock commented:

"Hospice at Home is a vital community service which makes a huge difference to the lives of its patients and their families. We

shouldn't have to beg the local community to save this critical service."

Hospice at Home is one of the services threatened by Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire Primary Care Trusts £28 million cuts this year with more to follow next year.
