4.06.29pm GMT Thu 24th Aug 2006

Leader of the City Council, Coun Ian Nimmo-Smith, has today welcomed moves to encourage National Express passengers to use the Trumpington Park and Ride site.

Cambridgeshire County Council and National Express are highlighting the Trumpington Site's advantages such as its free parking, waiting area and easy access to and from the M11 for those meeting or dropping off passengers for the National Express coaches to London and the airports.

Councillor Nimmo-Smith commented:

Ian Nimmo-Smith

"I'm very pleased that people are being encouraged to use the Park and Ride sites for connecting with long distance coaches. This well managed site is a pleasant, safe and convenient place to wait for coaches. This will benefit passengers as well as drivers setting down and collecting friends and family. Moreover, greater use of it would help reduce congestion in the city centre."
