Safety concerns remain on Access road4.51.31pm GMT Fri 5th Jan 2007 Lib Dem County Councillor for Trumpington, Anne Kent, has cautiously welcomed the news that the Addenbrooke's Access Road has been given the go-ahead. Coun Kent commented: "If Addenbrooke's and Clay Farm are to be developed we do need an access road, otherwise there will be gridlock in Trumpington. "However I also have concerns about the current plan. Local residents are very worried about the level of noise and have proposed a 30mph rather than a 40mph limit. This would make it much safer and quieter for the houses to be built alongside it.
"I share Cambridge Cycle Campaign's concerns about the safety of cyclists at the Shelford Road and Clay Farm junctions. This will be not only an important commuter route for cyclists but will also be a route to school and to the community and health centre for much of the development." The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has given the green light to plans for a new road to Addenbrooke's Hospital.
