Lib Dem County Councillor for Arbury, Rupert Moss-Eccardt, has today demanded that the County Council 'hurry up and fix the Gilbert Road lights'.

Coun Moss-Eccardt made the demand during a Full Meeting of Cambridgeshire County Council this week.

Coun Moss-Eccardt commented:

"The lights at the junction between Gilbert Road and Histon Road are urgently in need of a pedestrian phase. This is the route that many children use to travel to Mayfield Primary School and it's just not safe at the moment.

"This project has been approved for one year but it is no close to actually getting done. The County Council needs to hurry up and fix it."

Local residents have been demanding action for some time. Alan Levy, who lives on Gilbert Road, commented:

"I have been discussing this with Arbury residents in the last few days. Everyone if very worried about increasing traffic at this junction and angry at the County Council's lack of progress in making it safe for our children."

Clare Bartlet, whose son attends Mayfield Primary, added:
