Passengers protest as bus stops cut2.42.26pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 30th Aug 2007 Castle residents and councillors are protesting at the loss of their Park and Ride service from Conduit Head Road. David Howarth MP joined the group of residents, angry at the decision by Stagecoach to remove the Park and Ride stop, to demand that their stop is saved. Cambridgeshire County Council welcomed the decision to cut stops at Conduit Head Road, Northampton Street and Arbrury Crossroads as an 'improvement' to the Park and Ride service. Local Lib Dem City Councillor Simon Kightley commented: "These cuts will leave elderly residents with long waits for a bus into the city centre. For many people the loss of the Park and Ride service will mean that they return to their cars for these trips.
"In cutting bus stops in order to reduce journey times, Stagecoach and the County Council are letting these passengers down. We should be offering residents better bus services not forcing them back into their cars."
