POST OFFICES IN SERIOUS DANGER AFTER LABOUR DECISION - HOWARTH12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 20th Mar 2008 David Howarth MP slammed the Government for the abusive and unfair closing of thousands of post offices throughout the country. Commenting on the vote, David Howarth said: "I am very disappointed that the government scraped home in this vote. Post offices all over the country are at risk from Labour's policy of closing 2500 post offices, including here in Cambridge. "I am glad that the Liberal Democrats had a chance to put over our realistic plan for how the money could be found to prevent the closures. However, I'm amazed at the Conservatives, who say that they oppose closures but have forwarded no practical way of saving them or any explanation of why they closed more than 3000 post offices when they were in power."
