IRAQ WAR "BIGGEST FOREIGN POLICY MISTAKE" - HOWARTH12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 26th Mar 2008 Cambridge's Liberal Democrat MP, David Howarth has expressed dismay at the rejection by Parliament of calls for a full inquiry into the war in Iraq. Commenting on the vote, David Howarth said: "The Iraq war is the biggest foreign policy mistake a British government has made in 50 years. We need and deserve a full inquiry on how it happened. "I'm very disappointed, but not surprised, by the outcome of the vote. Gordon Brown does not want to face up to his own role in these catastrophic events. "Gordon Brown and David Cameron both voted for the war and should both publicly apologize for dragging the country into it." ENDS Notes to Editors 1.The inquiry was voted down by 299 against and 271 in favour.
