Lib Dem City Councillors are delighted to report that fantastic floral displays are appearing all over Cambridge including Christ's Pieces and Trumpington.

Christ's Pieces has some marvellous beds with yellow and red flowers of various types, while Trumpington is ablaze with colour. The planting is also complete at the Princess of Wales memorial rose garden on Christ's Pieces. Lib Dem Councillors are considering how to discourage people from dropping litter or sitting on the raised beds and damaging the roses.

Executive Councillor for Arts and Recreation, Julie Smith, said:

"When the propagation centre closed last year people raised concerns that the quality of the planting in Cambridge might be diminished. I'm sure everyone who comes to see Christ's Pieces will agree that the display is absolutely fantastic.

"This is a real tribute to the hard work of officers and entirely fitting for a City like Cambridge. I'm delighted to see that this hard work paid off and that the city looks so wonderful."

Councillor Philippa Slatter of Trumpington added:

"We are lucky in Trumpington ward to have several City council flowerbeds which are just bursting with colour, and our bulbs seem to be coming up just as strongly as usual. I do hope we can find ways of getting the plants in the Diana rose garden to grow better. We are quite worried that littering will damage the new flowers."
