YMCA TRAINING CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS WITH DAVID HOWARTH MP - HOWARTH

10.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 15th Apr 2008

YMCA Training celebrated its success in helping hundreds of long-term unemployed adults into work through working partnerships with employers, voluntary agencies, recruitment agencies and training organisations throughout Cambridgeshire.

Guests at the Employers Networking Event included Cambridge MP David Howarth and the Lady Mayor Councillor Jenny Bailey who both gave their full support to the project.

David Howarth MP commented:

"Everyone here who's an employer is helping with the final stage, the placement; this is the most crucial stage of all. People get the experience of doing real work and raising their confidence. These placements are increasingly leading to jobs.

"Partnerships between charities like YMCA Training and employers get people back into work more effectively. YMCA Training is doing an outstanding job at helping people and I will continue to actively support them."

Robert Dunn, marketing & placement Officer for Cambridge YMCA Training, explained:

"The partnerships that YMCA Training creates with hundreds of local employers help our clients into work through work placements and a subsidised wages scheme.

"These placement schemes have ensured that YMCA Training has won a National Competition in which we achieved the highest number of people with low literacy & numeracy levels gaining employment in the Country.

"We were also celebrating the good work that YMCA Training carried out in the local community through our Environmental Task Force programmes (ETF Programmes). We have partnerships which allow clients to work in the community in cleaning up our waterways and our countryside and gain valuable team work skills, an environmental conscience and demonstrate their work ethic which can then be transferred into the labour market."
