Former Councillor Joye Rosenstiel was elected Honorary Councillor on Cambridge City Council last Thursday.
Leader of the Council Ian Nimmo-Smith nominated Mrs Rosenstiel as a public recognition on her retirement after 26 unbroken years of public service as a city councillor representing Market Ward.
"The council was very pleased to be able to give this recognition of the public service and whole-hearted commitment to civic and community issues that Joye had given for over quarter of a century, including a year as Mayor and several years with executive responsibility for the community development and leisure portfolio."
"Joye has been a dedicated Councillor while working full-time and taking care of a growing family. I've always been impressed by her ability to find time for everything and always with a smile. She is a wonderful person and a very worthy honorary councillor"
Former Councillor Joye Rosenstiel was first elected in 1982. She is married to Councillor Colin Rosenstiel. She has two children and one grandchild.
