City Council Elections 2007Lib Dems won 10 out of the 14 wards up for election in May including making another gain in King's Hedges. City Council Elections 2006Liberal Democrats in Cambridge were re-elected comfortably in ten of the City Council seats that were up for re-election and made a historic gain in traditionally Labour King's Hedges. The Conservatives lost their one City Councillor in Cherry Hinton to the Labour Party. General Election 2005David Howarth won Cambridge for the Liberal Democrats with a majority in excess of 4,000. The result overturned Labour's majority of over 8,000 in an astonishing 15% swing from Labour to the Lib Dems. The Conservatives came third with a much reduced share of the result. The full results in Cambridge were: David Howarth, Liberal Democrat: 19,152 44% (+18.9% from 2001) Anne Campbell, Labour: 14,813 34% (-11.1%) Ian Lyon, Conservative: 7,193 16.5% (-6.4%) Others: 2,411 5.5% Turnout: 43,847 62% (+1%) County Council Elections 2005Lib Dems made gains and increased their support across Cambridgeshire, winning twenty-three seats across the County (a gain of six). Within Cambridge City, Lib Dems won ten of the fourteen wards contested. Petersfield, Arbury and Romsey wards gained their first ever Lib Dem County Councillors. City Council Elections 2004The Liberal Democrats gained two seats in the City Council elections, held on 9 June 2004, with both Labour and the Conservatives losing out. The Lib Dems now have 28 city councillors, Labour 13 and the Conservatives just one. European Elections 2004At the 2004 European Elections the Eastern Region returned Andrew Duff as a Liberal Democrat MEP. Our share of the vote increased by 2.1%. In Cambridge City we were the most popular party, receiving over a quarter of the vote. Labour were second with 21.3%.
