The Council have revealed part of the Cambridge Lakes could be opened up to the public as early as next summer.
The Lib Dems have been campaigning on this issue for a long time, with several ward teams coming together to promote the cause.
Coleridge resident and Lib Dem candidate, Simon Cooper, said “When walking round, you can really appreciate the beauty of the lakes and the real asset it would be to the local area.
“With a small amount of work, the site could easily be opened for public walking access.”
At the public tours, in September and October, visitors were impressed by the potential of the Cambridge Lakes, with good responses coming from those that took part.
Simon and the Local Lib Dems will continue to campaign for public access to the lakes.
