The County Council are planning to do a trial closure of Mill Road Bridge, in order to support social distancing and walking and cycling. This could be up to 18 months. The closure will be enforced by cameras which will fine anyone going through.
Liberal Democrat activists have found out that disabled blue badge holders will not be allowed through - given many disabled people rely on cars to get around, we believe the County Council should change this, and allow blue badge users to go over the bridge.
Judy Brunton, Lib Dem activist, said "There are already many obstacles for those who aren't able bodied, both during and before lockdown - so we believe the Council should not disadvantage them further. Blue badge holders should be allowed over Mill Road bridge without being fined."
By signing this petition I support blue badge holders being able to continue to use Mill Road bridge whilst the bus gate is implemented.
