Local MP 'unsurprised' at most overcrowded train poll

David Howarth, MP for Cambridge, is "not surprised" to find that two of the top 5 most overcrowded London trains were from Cambridge.

Government figures, uncovered by the Evening Standard yesterday, showed that the 0802 Cambridge to London Liverpool St train was the most overcrowded with the evening 1815 London King's Cross to Cambridge coming in 4th.

Mr. Howarth commented:

"As a commuter myself, I'm not surprised to find the Cambridge to London route with the rather dubious honour of topping this poll. It is clear that the morning commuter train often exceeds its capacity. We need more investment to provide extra capacity and to improve the rail service."
