Blair's already made his mind up on Energy Review says Lib Dem Energy Spokesperson.
David Howarth MP, Liberal Democrat Energy Spokesperson, has criticised Tony Blair for having already made up his mind to go for nuclear power. Mr. Howarth's criticism came ahead of the submissions deadline for the Energy Review carried out by the Department of Trade and Industry.
Mr. Howarth commented:
"The Government has already made up its mind to go with the nuclear option and is just using this Review to justify it. We need to get going on tackling climate change and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, not go through another long review process, only to come up with whatever answer Tony Blair wants to hear.
"Nuclear power is not the answer to combating climate change. Nuclear power is not renewable and will be so expensive that a new nuclear programme risks crowding out all development of renewable energy technologies."
