Former Chairman of Cambridge Police Consultation Group. Coun Geoff Heathcock, has today expressed his dismay at news that Cambridge only had 12 officers on duty one day last week.
The shortage, due to a special mission that day, was revealed at a public meeting on Thursday.
Coun Heathcock, Lib Dem County Councillor for Queen Edith's, commented:
Cllr Geoff Heathcock
"This level of protection is just not good enough. Cambridge has a growing population and the city is often heavy with visitors, 12 police officers is simply not acceptable."
