Cllr Sian Reid
Cyclists involved in accidents on Cambridge's icy roads are being urged to report accidents to the police so that city councillors can push for road gritting improvements.
The call comes from Sian Reid, executive city councillor for Climate Change and Growth who fears that without hard evidence of accident statistics there will be no more investment in gritting.
"Cyclists do not tend to report their accidents," she said. "They are stoical and carry on. But without the hard evidence we cannot push for more investment.
"I would urge riders that, whenever they have accidents, to go and report it to the police so that we can gather statistics to put before the county council. Without these figures no-one will ever come up with the investment that is needed."
