Cambridge City Councillor, Max Boyce is to meet residents who fear that plans by Wetherspoon to open its new pub, The Tivoli, will lead to parking problems outside their homes.
They fear that the licensing application at the former Graduate in Chesterton Road will lead to parking problems in the area. Although some streets have
residents' parking during the day some like Corona Road and Springfield
Road, do not.
The mixture of different restrictions could lead to them all being ignored by Wetherspoon's customers.
Residents have invited Councillor Boyce, who represents West Chesterton, to a public meeting to discuss the parking issues and Wetherspoon's licence application on Thursday (July 8). The meeting will take place at 7.30pm at the Waterman pub at the junction of Victoria Avenue and Chesterton Road.
Cllr Boyce said: "I am anxious to find a way to deal with these parking problems which cannot be addressed through the licensing process.
"Not all residents have the protection of a residents' parking scheme, and
those that do might well have problems in the evenings."
Anyone concerned about the parking problems around Mitcham's Corner or aspects of Wetherspoon's licensing application is invited to attend the meeting.
