Julian at WestminsterA controversial debate on whether Britain's drug laws are outdated and need changing will be chaired by Cambridge MP Julian Huppert on Sunday (September 19).

Julian is heading up the Liberal Democrats for Drug Policy Reform event during the fringe at the party's Autumn Conference in Liverpool.

The debate will cover the findings of the group's recent survey on drug policy reform during the discussion titled "It's Time We Talked About Drugs Policy".

Julian said: "The Liberal Democrats are very clear about where the present drug laws could be changed to concentrate resources on the serious issue of drug dealing and trafficking.

"The focus should be on getting addicts the treatment they need while allowing the police to concentrate their efforts on tackling organised drug pushers and gangs.

"At the same time, drug policy should always be based on independent scientific advice."
