Cambridge Liberal Democrats have chosen their candidate to fight the election for the Coleridge seat on Cambridge City Council on November 4.

Sarah Barnes has lived Cambridgeshire all her life and in the Coleridge ward in Rustat Road for the last seven years.

She was born in Burwell, studied at Anglia Ruskin University and works for a mental health charity. Her husband runs a business in Cambridge and the couple have a young son.

Sarah is fighting her campaign on improving public transport, getting desperately needed road repairs and cleaning up litter from the streets.

She said: "I would like to see bus travel become more affordable for people living in the area. The prices are increasing and this makes it difficult for passengers to see it as a viable means of transport and an alternative to the car. I would also like to see electronic timetables introduced.

"I will also be pushing for urgent repairs to our roads which have been badly damaged in last year's severe winter. Litter is also a problem and I would like to get our streets cleaned up."
