Ambitious plans for a city farm are to be explored by the city council and could form part of the plans being developed for Cherry Hinton Hall.

Residents who took part in an extensive consultation were strongly in favour of the idea which is part of a package of improvements outlined for the site.

A master plan drawn up for the park also includes ideas for a pond, orchard, wildlife area and community garden.

Cambridge City Executive Councillor for Arts and Recreation, Rod Cantrill said: "We have carried out extensive consultation to investigate ways of improving the park while still retaining its character.

"Residents thought the idea for a city farm was a good one and we need to look at this further to see if it is possible either at Cherry Hinton Hall or another site in the city.

"We are anxious to make sure that in developing the plans for the park we can get the right balance which allows it to be enjoyed by everyone."
