Daniel Vockins, Lighter Later campaign manager joins Julian Huppert in support of daylight saving.

Cambridge MP Julian Huppert will seize the day tomorrow (Friday, December 3) when he casts his vote in favour of making the most of the daylight hours.

Julian is supporting the Daylight Saving Bill which will have its Second Reading in Parliament.

The Bill aims to allow the clocks to move forward an hour throughout the year to maximise the availability of daylight hours.

It is supported by the Lighter Later campaign which in turn, has the backing of safety campaigners, tourism organisations, businesses, sporting bodies and environmentalists.

Julian said: "This makes absolute sense. At the moment we are sleeping during daylight hours and burning energy to light the darkness.

"By shifting the clocks forward an hour, we can make the most of the light which will bring great benefits for business, tourism and sport, cut our electricity bills and our carbon footprints. It's a winner all round."

Daniel Vockins, Lighter Later campaign manager said: "We would still put the clocks forward in spring and back in autumn, but we would have moved an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening, when more of us are awake to enjoy it.

"All the evidence shows an extra hour of light in the evenings is much more valuable than an hour in the early morning - and the opinion polls make it clear that the majority of people in the UK are in favour of the change."
