The Lib Dem approach
We believe that action speaks louder than words. We're determined to protect and enhance Milton Road's green environment and community character, and we are taking practical steps to achieve this:
- We've won support at the City Deal Board for our idea of an Environmental Design Guide. This would look for examples of best practice from around the world and set firm standards for the City Deal's transport infrastructure schemes. We believe that this document will guarantee that a brutal engineering scheme, like that currently proposed for Milton Road, can never happen in Cambridge.
- We've persuaded the City Deal to give a presentation about creating green, community-friendly streets at the North Area Committee meeting on 4th February. The City Deal Assembly and Board have seen this presentation, but local residents have not. We want it to be available to everyone because it may help residents come forward with credible alternatives to the City Deal's proposals.
