MP Julian Huppert will continue to push the case for the reopening of the Cambridge to Oxford railway line at a cross-party update on the project on Monday (November 10).
Julian, who has been championing the so-called Varsity line for years, will welcome the progress being made on the East West Rail project and how it is vitally important for Cambridge.
“The Cambridge stretch will bring huge benefits to our city,” said Julian, Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for East West Rail. “We have waited a long time for this project.
“Cambridge and the whole of the east of England is growing fast. Reopening this line will support that growth, providing an important transport link for businesses and making us more competitive.”
Julian will speak at the APPG meeting which will hear from Network Rail about the progress being made on the Bicester to Oxford phase and the Aylesbury, Bicester to Bedford phase.
“It is so important that we keep driving this project forward,” he said. “A fast, efficient rail service connecting towns and cities across the UK is vitally important and it promises so much for Cambridge.”
