Cllr David Levien

I'm delighted to have been elected as your new City Councillor.

I have lived in or near Cambridge for 38 years and in Trumpington for over 31 of them.  We are now on our third house in the area having needed to move as our family expanded.

My wife Jane is a Healthcare Assistant at the local medical centre.  We have three children, a son and two daughters all of whom are grown-up and live independent lives.

As a professional engineer I have been employed by several of the high-tech companies which have made Cambridge world-famous and more recently have run my own small local company in the electronics manufacturing and distribution business.  I sold this business in 2018 and have enjoyed becoming more involved in local affairs since then.

More recently, I have worked as a teaching assistant at the Trumpington Community College which I found extremely rewarding.

I also volunteer regularly at the food hub which operates at the Trumpington Pavilion on Friday mornings.   I particularly enjoy this as it brings me into contact with fellow members of the local community.  It also has made me aware of the very real problems suffered by many of our local residents.

In my spare time I am very keen on rowing and am often found on the river Cam either as a Cox, a coach or actually rowing.

Trumpington has changed enormously in the years I've lived here and the vast majority of the changes have been extremely positive.  I believe it is important to maintain proper checks and balances on these and future changes. I want to ensure we can take the opportunity presented to build a great community here in Trumpington.

Whilst national politics are a constant background to our lives, my real focus as a City Councillor will be to focus on the local facilities and amenities which Trumpington residents and myself enjoy and wish to improve.
