Cambridge MP, Julian Huppert is supporting National Care Home Open Day on Friday, June 20 with a visit to the city’s Hope Residential and Nursing Home.
Julian has been invited to meet the residents of the home in Brooklands Avenue who will be taking part in a variety of activities throughout the day.
The home opens its doors along with thousands of other care homes across theUK to connect residents with the community and give people the chance to look round and change perceptions of care homes.
Owned by the religious order, the Holy Family of Bordeaux, the home is managed by the Healthcare Management Trust charity which was founded in 1985.
Julian said: “I am looking forward to my visit and meeting the residents and staff.
“It’s unfortunate that the negative press received by a small number of poorly-run homes has coloured some people’s perception of the care home sector. Hopefully, this open day will go a long way to changing those views and helping people to realise that there are many well-run homes across the UK offering a lively and caring community for their elderly residents.”
