Passenger Benefit Fund Must Benefit Chesterton

The front of Cambridge North station

After the disruption to rail services last year local railway operator GTR has created a Passenger Benefit Fund to compensate passengers and communities for the disruption.  We believe that increased traffic on the line will bring additional problems to an already busy level crossing, and are calling on GTR to fund research into a road bridge over the railway line so that residents and businesses aren't shut in and the dangerous level crossing can be closed.

We, the undersigned, call on money from the Cambridge North section of Govia Thameslink Railway's Passenger Benefit Fund to be spent on a feasibility study looking at how to provide an alternate road, cycle and foot access from north of the Fen Road level crossing, over the railway line.

We believe this is eligible for the fund because alternative access would allow closure of the level crossing, which in turn would allow more and faster train services which would benefit all passengers, particularly as development around the areas brings significant amounts of new housing to the area.
