Liberal Democrats in East Cambridgeshire are pushing the Tories to protect local services as mobile libraries, school crossing patrols road maintenance and winter gritting come under threat.
They claim raising council tax by less than the cost of a cup of coffee a month – 50p a week – would make all the difference.
East Cambs Lib Dem Leader, Lorna Dupre said: “Services such as mobile libraries and school crossing patrols make a huge difference to some of the most vulnerable in our communities.
“Mobile libraries can be a lifeline for the elderly and disabled, and school crossing patrols keep our children safe on the way to school.
“These services and many others are well worth the 50p a week people are being asked to pay. 50p a week is less than the cost of a cup of coffee a month, yet our Conservative councillors are choosing to cut services instead.”
