A message from Romsey Councillor Catherine Smart ..

Recently, I met with the new Deputy Manager of Mill Road Tesco to discuss noisy rubbish collection during unsociable hours early in the morning.

This was because there have been a number of occasions recently when people living near have been woken up by a vehicle belonging to Glazewing, Tesco’s rubbish collection contractor, arriving very early in the morning – several times well before 6.00 and on one occasion as early as 5.20.  It is impossible to collect rubbish quietly so everyone in the vicinity was being thoroughly woken.

After our discussion, the Deputy Manager has agreed to contact Glazwing, to renegotiate collection times in the future.

I am sure you will agree with me that this is a success.  Hopefully now Tesco’s will behave in a way which is not disruptive to their neighbours early in the morning.

If things start to slip again, do not hesitate to get in touch with me using the details below.

Kind regards,
Cllr Catherine Smart

P.S. I hope this is the beginning of the end for early morning wake-ups thanks to Tesco rubbish collection, although if this does continue please do get in touch.
