John Grimwood

John Grimwood - a local champion for Trumpington

I’ve been living in Trumpington for the past thirteen years and it really feels like home now. These days, I share my house with two kids and two lively dogs, while my two older step-children have flown the nest and started their own adventures.

I’ve worked in the NHS for almost twenty-five years. I used to be a front-line paramedic, but now my role has shifted behind the scenes. Even though I’m not out in the ambulance anymore, I still get to make a difference and support others in meaningful ways.

Alongside my NHS work, I also run a small business where I teach first aid and other courses. I love being able to share what I’ve learned and help others pick up important, life-saving skills. Juggling both my NHS role and my business keeps me active, but I find it incredibly rewarding and it lets me meet all sorts of people.

In addition to my work and business, I also volunteer with St John Ambulance, which allows me to further contribute to the wellbeing of my community and support people.

Whether it’s through my job, my business, or volunteering, I’m passionate about making a positive difference and supporting my community however I can.

I am delighted to be standing alongside Olaf Hauk as your candidates for City Council this May.

Result of last year's local election in Trumpington - LD 1111, Lab 726, Con 473, Grn 395, Ref 275

The Lib Dems are winning in Trumpington - and are the clear alternative to Labour this year.

The Liberal Democrats are winning here in Trumpington - and can beat Labour in this year's city council elections and overtake them as the largest party on the City Council.

In last year's county council elections, it was a two-horse race between the Lib Dems and Labour with Cllr David Levien winning. The Conservatives and the Green Party were in a distant third and fourth place.

Only the Lib Dems can beat Labour in Trumpington this May. A vote for the Green Party, Conservatives or Reform risks keeping Labour in power for another year and continuing their record of letting Cambridge down.

The Lib Dems are also the party with momentum in Cambridgeshire going into this year's local elections. In the 2024 General Election, the 3 Lib Dems were elected for the seats surrounding Cambridge, as Lib Dem Cheney Payne finished as the closest challenger to Labour here in the city. Last year, the Liberal Democrats gained overall control of the County Council for the first time in its history.

This year, the Lib Dems are once again the clear challengers to Labour in Cambridge. As the main opposition on the City Council with 12 councillors, only the Lib Dems can overtake Labour and replace their failing leadership of the City Council. With less than half the number of councillors the Lib Dems have, the Green Party are too far behind and won't be able to overtake Labour. The Conservatives with one councillor and Reform with none have no chance.

Vote Liberal Democrat on May 7th for the real alternative to Labour in Cambridge and to send Keir Starmer a message he cannot ignore.
