OPPOSITION LIB DEMS EYE OPPORTUNITY OF CITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS IN MAY
Cambridge’s Labour city councillors decided in private yesterday not to seize the government’s invitation to request cancellation of the scheduled city council elections in May. This has been welcomed by Lib Dem city councillors who form the main opposition group on the council.
Lib Dem Opposition Leader Cllr Tim Bick said:
“As the winners of last year’s local elections in Cambridge, we're delighted that city people won't be denied their verdict on another year of Labour in power. The holding of scheduled elections in May this year should never have been in question. We are confident of further Lib Dem gains as Labour continues to disappoint, looking increasingly tired and directionless at both at the Guildhall and Westminster.”
