Pedestrian Crossing at Mount Pleasant
In early January, bids for Local Highways Improvement (LHI) funding can be submitted. This funding provides money to make small scale improvements to the roads around Cambridgeshire. In Cambridge, each County Councillor can apply for 5 funding bids.
The junction of Mount Pleasant and Madingley Road has no dedicated pedestrian crossing, instead pedestrians either have to walk up Mount Pleasant or along Madingley Road to find a crossing point. It has become an accident hot spot because people understandable try to cross at the junction anyway. This junction is a busy route for students and permanent residents alike. Therefore, I would like to work with our County Cllr Rory Clark to apply for LHI funding for a dedicate pedestrian crossing on this junction.
In order for LHI bids to be successful, we must demonstrate public support. Therefore, I am asking you to sign the below petition. Without public support, LHI funding bids fail, as it is one of the scoring criteria.
Pedestrian Crossing at Mount Pleasant
We, the undersigned, call on Cambridgeshire County Council to support our bid for a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Mount Pleasant and Madingley Road.
